Touch Rules Summary

NUMBER OF PLAYERS
Corporate Touch is played six a side with four possible substitutes - a team can play with a minimum of four players.
Mixed teams must have a minimum of two females on the field at all times.

SUBSTITUTES
Substitutes can be made at any time -
(i) following a touchdown, no physical contact needed.
(ii) during play interchanges must occur at the sideline, in an onside position, and players involved must make physical contact prior to the substitute entering the field of play.

DURATION & FIELD SIZE
The game will consist of 2 x 12 minute halves with a 2 minute half time break.
The playing field is 60 x 40 metres.

HOW TO PLAY
The object of the game is for each team is to score touchdowns, and prevent the opposition from scoring.

The attacking team retains possession of the ball until six touches have been effected. Possession of the ball then reverts to the other team.

The ball cannot be passed or knocked forward.

To play the ball following a touch, the player in possession places the ball on the ground and rolls the ball between the legs to a player standing immediately behind, who then passes the ball. If this player attempts to run with the ball and is touched then possession is lost to the opposition.

COMMENCEMENT OF PLAY
To begin play:
- Play is commenced with a tap at the centre line. Defenders must stay 10m away until the ball has been tapped (violation = tap awarded on the 10m line).

- After a touchdown, play is restarted the same way.

- Penalty taps are taken in the same manner, with the defending team 10m away.

SCORING
The attacking team aims to place the ball on or over the end line without being touched.

The acting half cannot score a touchdown (violation = loss of possession).

If a player mistakenly places the ball before the end line he can retain possession and play the ball on that spot.

If a player is touched over the end line before placing the ball on the ground, he retreats five metres from the line and plays the ball.

GENERAL PLAY
When a touch occurs the touched player must play the ball at the place where he was touched. (Violation = penalty to the opposition).

Following the sixth touch, possession is lost and the opposition will play the ball at the mark.

Should a player in possession allow the ball to fall to the ground, the opposition gains possession.

Intercepts are permitted.

Advantage rule will be played where possible. Obstruction and shepherding is not permitted.

The touched player must play the ball by rolling it between his legs a distance of less than one metre.

Defending teams must be five metres away in a play the ball situation and cannot move forward until the acting half has touched the ball (violation = the attacking team receives a penalty tap at the 5m position and the touch count restarts).

Defending players must allow the acting half to pass the ball or move from the spot. The acting half may not delay his actions.

Offside players must not become involved in the play until they have moved into an onside position.

A ball run or thrown over the sideline results in loss of possession and a restart 5m infield from the sideline.

Play the balls from touches effected within 5m of the end line may be moved back 5m from the end line.

If a defending player deliberately touches the ball while it is in flight between players of the attacking team, and the ball goes to ground, possession is retained and the touch count is restarted. If the ball is touched in flight, and the attacking team retains possession, the touch count restarts.

PENALTIES
A penalty shall be awarded for:
i) any rough or dangerous play
ii) deliberate time wasting
iii) any breach of the rules
iv) dissent abuse or bad sportsmanship
v) back chatting to the referees

Dangerous play includes excessive force in a touch, running into a player, charging at a player or reckless play.

For any breach of the rules possession goes to the non-offending team. The umpire will play advantage and play on where ever possible.

No aggressive touching or intimidating play is permitted.
