Rules Summary
NUMBER OF PLAYERS
Corporate soccer is played six a side with four
possible substitutes - a team can play with a minimum of four
players.
Mixed teams must have a minimum of two females on the field
at all times.
SUBSTITUTES
Substitutes can be made at any time during play.
Interchanges must occur at the sideline and players involved
must make physical contact prior to the substitute entering
the field of play.
DURATION
The game will consist of 2 x 12 minute halves
with a 2 minute half time break.
FIELD SIZE
The playing field is 50 x 35 metres divided into
halves with a 6 metre radius goal semi-circle at each end
ofthe field. The goal posts are 6 metres apart and 1.5 metres
high.
PLAYER POSITIONS
There are no set player positions for general
play but only four players from each team are permitted in
any half at one time (excluding the goalkeeper).
Players may interchange between halves at any time. A player
is permitted to venture into a half containing four of his
players only in the course of playing for the ball and must
retreat to his half immediately after that play.
HOW TO PLAY
The object of the game is for each team is to
kick the ball, dribbling and passing to team players and to
score goals, and prevent the opposition from scoring.
COMMENCEMENT OF PLAY
The game is commenced by one player kicking the
ball from the centre of the field a distance of at least one
metre forward of the half way line.
At the start and restart of play the attacking side must all
be in their own half. The defensive team must be in their own
half, ten metres back from the half way line.
Immediately after the kick off each team must have no more
than four players in each half (excluding the goalkeeper).
After each goal the game is recommenced in the same manner by
the non-scoring team.
SCORING
Each team aims to score a goal
by kicking the ball through their opponent’s goal.
Goals can be scored from a kick in the attacking half of the
field outside of the goal circle.
GENERAL PLAY
The game is non-contact and as such all players
must keep a distance from all other players.
A player may take the ball from another player but may not
contact that player or strike and hack at the player's feet.
No aggressive tackling or intimidating play is permitted.
Players must remain on their feet at all times and sliding is
strictly prohibited.
A player in possession must, within 3 seconds of
receiving the ball, either:
i) kick or pass the ball,
ii) dribble and run with the ball or;
iii) shoot for goal.
Only one to one defence is permitted and no more than one
player from each team may approach a free ball.
Players may dribble the ball for 15 metres only then must
pass the ball.
The player with the ball has right of way but he may not
charge or run at another player.
A defending player must keep a distance from the player with
the ball and may not strike dangerously at the ball, or
charge or run at the player. The defending player can set his
position in defence in the path of the player with the ball
(similar to basketball defence) and then may follow as
defence to the player with the ball (i.e. shepherding and
forcing him to pass).
The ball may not go over shoulder height. No heading or
handling of the ball is permitted. Only goalkeepers may
handle the ball.
Team players may not pass the ball back to the goalkeeper in
the goal circle.
GOALKEEPING
Only the goalkeeper is permitted in the goal
circle. The goal keeper may not leave the goal circle but may
interchange with other players when the ball is in the other
half.
Contact must be made between interchanging players at the
goal circle. The goal keeper may slide or dive to save a goal
but must do so safely. He cannot dive or slide towards
another player. The goalkeeper must bring the ball into play
within 5 seconds.
IMPORTANT: Studded
football boots are not permitted. All players must wear
shoes.
OUT OF BOUNDS
If a team causes a ball to go over the sideline
the opposing team gains possession and restarts play at the
point where the ball left the field. A player may roll or
kick the ball back into the field of play. All defending
players must be at least 10 metres from the kick-in. The kick
must be at least 1 metre in distance. A player taking the
kick-in may take possession from his own kick.
If a team causes a ball to go over the endline the opposing
team gains possession and restarts play. The defending team
goalkeeper re-starts play with either a goal kick from within
the circle, the ball must be kicked from the ground, or a
rollout from within the circle, the ball must be rolled under
arm along the ground.
The attacking team re-starts play with a corner kick. All
defending players must be at least 10 metres from a corner
kick.
FREE KICKS
A free kick shall be awarded for:
i) any rough or dangerous play
ii) deliberate time wasting
iii) any breach of the rules
iv) dissent abuse or bad sportsmanship
Dangerous play includes kicking the ball into a player,
charging at a player or reckless kicking.
* Free kicks can be awarded with 10 - 20 metre penalties at
the discretion of the referee.
When a free kick is awarded all defending players must be 10
metres from the kick.
A player taking a free kick may only step two paces before
kicking the ball and may not fake a kick. Indirect free kicks
must be passed to another player a distance of at least 1
metre.
For infringements in the goal circle a free kick shall be
awarded 10 metres in front of the goal circle.
Severe infringements will incur a penalty kick 9 metres in
front of the goal.
For any breach of the rules possession goes to the
non-offending team. The umpire will play advantage and play
on where ever possible.
* Players will be sent from the field for misconduct or
aggressive play.
